  15. This document refers to shareware application 'Soccer ScoreSheet',
  16. version 8.  This is a major new release of an already successful
  17. application.

  20. Overview
  21. ========
  22. 'Soccer ScoreSheet' is a Microsoft Windows (c)(r) application for the
  23. management of soccer league data.  It also comes complete with a
  24. significant number of features to assist football pools enthusiasts and
  25. syndicates.  All features are highly user-configurable to suit any
  26. league-based soccer arrangement, at professional, amateur, world-wide,
  27. regional and local levels.

  32. Target Audience
  33. ===============
  34. The target audience for this application falls into two main categories:
  35.  
  36. *  People who have a regular need to keep soccer league statistical
  37.    information up to date.  For example league coordinators, club
  38.    secretaries, or private individuals who keep their own statistics.

  40. *  People who submit entries to football pools competitions who need
  41.    instant access to team form and past history.  This would also
  42.    include pools syndicates.

  45. Major Features - League Management
  46. ==================================
  47. *  Highly user-configurable league management.  Suitable for professional
  48.    or amateur league systems (currently in use with several UK league
  49.    clubs and organisations).

  53. *  Multiple user-configurable match categories to allow user to keep
  54.    track of league and non-league matches.

  82. Major Features - Pools Prediction
  83. =================================
  84. Note:  Many users do not make use of the prediction features because
  85. they have no need of these for their own requirements.  The prediction
  86. features are supplemental to the league management features.

  88. The authors do not intend to misrepresent the capabilities of this
  89. application.  Whilst the use of this application may increase the
  90. chances of winning on football pools competitions, the authors do not
  91. make any such claim.  No computer program can be expected to reliably,
  92. consistently and accurately predict the outcomes of any sporting event
  93. prior to it having taken place.

  95. *  Multiple user-configurable prediction algorithms to suggest most
  96.    likely result of matches yet to be played.  Each algorithm is based
  97.    wholly on statistical comparison of pertinent home/away team data.

  99. *  Multiple perm support, allowing user to configure multi-column perm
  100.    arrangements and compare different perms across time.

  102. *  Automatic data-update subscription service for registered users
  103.    (primarily for users with Email facilities).

  105. *  Significant use of colour representation for prediction purposes.
  106.    Colours are user-definable.

  108. *  Graphical analysis of predicted vs actual results.  User can define
  109.    result types (home, away, draw etc.), and date range.

  112.    for results types are user-configurable).

  114. *  Graphical analysis of HOT and COLD pools coupon numbers, based upon
  115.    actual results achieved on the pools coupon over time.

  118.    and prediction arrangement.

  121.    to the user about which fixture dates still have outstanding results

  125. Target Platforms
  126. ================
  127. Soccer ScoreSheet is provided as standard with two separate runtime
  128. executables, one a 16-bit application, the other a true 32-bit
  129. application. These executables target the following operating systems:
  130.  
  131.    *  Microsoft Windows 3.x
  132.  
  133.    *  Microsoft Windows 95/NT
  134.  
  135. The data (and other support) files used by this application are 100%
  136. compatible between these versions, allowing a user to migrate between
  137. versions at any time without loss of data.

  140. Environmental Requirements
  141. ==========================
  142. For MS Windows 3.x a 386 PC (or better).  Recommended 8 megabytes RAM,
  143. and a 66MHz PC or better (will run on a minimally configured PC).
  144.  
  145. For MS Windows 95 a 386 PC (or better).  Recommended 16 megabytes RAM,
  146. and a 66MHz PC or better.

  148. All installations require a minimum of 2 megabytes of hard disk space
  149. (cannot run on a diskette).

  152. Licensing
  153. =========
  154. Soccer ScoreSheet is released under the shareware concept.  The
  155. shareware version is fully functional and unlimited for 45 days to allow
  156. the user to fully evaluate the software.

  158. The user is obliged to register the software with the authors (see
  159. below) on completion of the evaluation period.  Licensing is provided on
  160. a single-user basis only.  Full details are contained within the on-line
  161. help under 'Registration'.

  163. The one-time cost of registration is £19.  Registration can be made
  164. direct with the authors, credit card (via PsL - see our Internet site
  165. given below), and via the Compuserve SWREG scheme using ID 4036.  A full
  166. money-back guarantee is offered by the authors in the event that the
  167. user is not 100% satisfied.

  172. *  The authors will provide the most up to date UK league table(s) they
  173.    have available.

  175. *  Personalised copy of the application, via user name/unique serial
  176.    number.  This will allow the user to personalise all future version
  177.    8's that may be released (it may roll over to version 9 or beyond at
  178.    the discretion of the authors).

  182. *  Automatic database update for users with Email may be considered.
  183.    This is a SUBSCRIPTION service, with the first three months free for
  184.    evaluation purposes. Subject to confirmation with the authors.

  187.    until the next major release, whichever comes later).

  189. *  A Soccer ScoreSheet newsletter is published to registered users.

  191. *  The registered version will automatically populate the next season
  192.    detail at the end of a season (this is the only feature which is not
  193.    made available in the evaluation version).

  195. *  The authors operate a referral fee system for registered users - new
  196.    registrations can provide a cashback alternative for the person
  197.    making the introduction.

  202. The authors provide utility software to allow registered users of
  203. earlier versions to migrate their data files to this new version, thus
  204. ensuring backwards compatibility.
